A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Support and an "Chart Upset"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of talented individuals. The track features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The group managing the initiative have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure explained. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
