Followers Call for Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are calling for that a person who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared clip reveals the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway surrounded by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being detained", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to attend court on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains clips of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another comment on Instagram.
A number of supporters also criticised security officers at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while others called for digital services to block Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Many of fans had gathered in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual interpretation of the acclaimed stage musical Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two distinct sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, winning a pair for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
