Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
