The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden World Series following the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.
Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now hit 23 total playoff homers, ranking him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that situation except for him with his October magic," noted manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "there's no question that it's painful" after his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays secured the title on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
