A two-month voyage through the Land Down Under is being halted in the wake of the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was stranded by the ship on a distant tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a break. The ship sailed away leaving her and returned several hours later after the personnel discovered the woman was missing.

An extensive hunt located her body the next day.

Authorities are looking into the event, in coordination with investigators and the state coroner.

Head of the cruise operator announced that guests and crew on the vessel were informed that the remainder of the voyage had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he further stated that travelers would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to coordinate the travel back of the individuals via private aircraft".

Regulatory bodies also issued an updated communication, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Captain" banning any further travelers from entering the ship.

The representative said that they would attend the vessel in the Australian city upon its coming back.

The liner first departed Cairns on October 24th, and was merely two days into the voyage at the time of the elderly woman's passing. The remote island was the initial destination on the voyage.

"Officials suggested her to head down, alone. Then the ship left, reportedly without doing a headcount.

Operator Response
